How To Bring Your Life Into Balance   Nov. 1, 2018

If you lose your balance, you may fall and suffer an injury. All of us have done it and it hurts. If you move out of energetic balance, you can suffer from physical, mental or emotional pain. Sometimes pain will manifest physically with broken bones or illness. You can be out of balance emotionally and feel depressed. You can be out of balance mentally and become obsessive in your thoughts. When you use the scales to weigh your gold, you want have equal amounts of gold on each side. This is true balance, the Yin and Yang. Opposite energies balance each other out. Sometimes you will go too far in one direction. Sometimes you may go too far in the other direction. The goal is to spend most of your time in the middle. In order to understand joy, you need to understand sorrow. Experiencing the variety of emotion is part of human experience. How can you appreciate the good times if you have no concept of what it’s like to be at the other end of the spectrum? Yet, if you spend too much time in sorrow and pain, that can become your way of life. If you feel intense anger and spend your time in anger, you are depriving yourself of peace and love. Yet, always being in a space of perfect peace without knowing how it feels not to be at peace deprives you of basic human understanding of the nature of emotion. When something in your life is out of balance, it’s up to you to do whatever is necessary to shift the energy in a different direction. Usually this is a process of moving through your present experience towards achieving balance, rather than shifting the energy totally in the opposite direction. Going from joy to sorrow and back can be exhausting. Finding a neutral middle ground allows time to reflect without being totally engrossed in the experience. The Buddha spoke of detachment. Detachment allows for clarity and helps create energetic balance. If you’re feeling depths of emotion or depths of thought, this is part of human experience to be accepted and learned from. Accept your thoughts and emotions as your creations. Embrace them. Then, detach yourself from them in order to better understand what within you created this experience and what your lesson is from it.
